Solution 1: Checking settings for an Internet Explorer Browser

  • Shut down the QBDT app > click Windows + R to run the Run Command

  • Then, type INETCPL.CPL > hit the OK

  • Press on the Internet from the Security tab > make sure the security level under Medium to High

  • Page down to the Connections > go through the following points: 

  • If you are not using the Dial-up node, then Never Dial a Connection is the recommended setting for you to choose your current ISP and hence to press OK

  • Click on the LAN settings > make sure Automatically detect settings is ticked

  • In addition, confirm that the Use a proxy server on the LAN option is not selected. If selected, you should provide the address and port

  • Do not select the option in case the port shown here is 80

  • If the port shown is a number other than 80, do not select the option

  • Hit OK > navigate to the Advanced tab 

  • Page down your cursor to the Restore Advanced Setting under the security segment > now, confirm that Use TLS 1.2 is chosen there

Solution 3: Set up the TCP & Port settings in the security app

  • Hit the Windows + R > launch the Run Window

  • In the search type Windows Firewall > hit OK to finish the search 

  • A new window will open; choose the Advanced Settings theme under the menu on the left

  • Page down to the Inbound rule > right tap on it > pick the New Rule

  • Hit the Port button > hit Next > make sure TCP is pre-selected on this tab 

  • Go to the area with the Specific Local Ports options and list the port numbers for the QB Desktop version you are using

  • In registered terms, if one or more are installed, follow the same procedure for all operating versions:

  • For QBDT 2020 and later versions: write 8019, XXXXX

  • For QBDT 2019 version: 8019, XXXXX

  • For QBDT 2018 version: 8019, 56728, 55378-55382

  • Tap Next >, choose Allow the Connection 

  • Click Next > again, and you will be prompted with an interstitial where you can select the profiles. Simply select them all and proceed

  • Tap again on Next > create the QBPorts (year) rule

  • Press the Finish button > follow the same procedure again to create an Outbound Rule as well > after that, you can open the QB and your company files without facing QB error 12009
